Editing an Appointment #

Edit an existing appointment when scheduling details need to change but the visit remains the same appointment. Review the existing values before overwriting them.

Before you begin #

  • Open the correct date and resource in the scheduler.
  • Select the existing appointment rather than an empty slot.
  • Know exactly which details need to change.

What to do #

  1. Open the existing appointment details.
  2. Verify the patient before editing.
  3. Change the intended field or fields, such as provider/resource, time, type, status, Appointment For, or Note when applicable.
  4. Recheck the start and end values after the edit.
  5. Save the appointment using the normal Phoenix workflow.

Verify before you finish #

  • The patient did not change unintentionally.
  • The appointment still has the intended duration.
  • Only the requested scheduling details changed.

Important

Editing an appointment is different from opening a blank slot. Confirm that you are working with the existing appointment before making changes.
