Diagnosis Ordering #

Diagnosis ordering determines how diagnoses are listed and referenced in billing. Keep the order consistent with the encounter and claim requirements used by your practice.

What to do #

  1. Review all diagnoses attached to the billing context.
  2. Identify the diagnosis intended to appear first and any additional diagnoses.
  3. Adjust the order using the current Phoenix workflow when a verified change is needed.
  4. Recheck procedure-to-diagnosis pointers after changing order.
  5. Save and review the charge.

Verify before you finish #

  • The primary-listed diagnosis is intentional.
  • Line-level pointers still reference the intended diagnoses.
  • No diagnosis was removed accidentally while reordering.

Important

Changing diagnosis order can affect line-level pointers or outbound claim interpretation. Recheck the full charge after reordering.
