Billing Notes #

Billing notes are operational notes used to document billing-related context for staff. Keep them concise and appropriate to the workflow where they are stored.

What to do #

  1. Open the correct patient/case and billing context.
  2. Review existing notes before adding another.
  3. Enter a factual note that another billing user can understand.
  4. Avoid unnecessary sensitive or clinical detail.
  5. Save and confirm the note is associated with the intended record.

Verify before you finish #

  • The note belongs to the correct patient/case.
  • The note describes billing activity rather than unsupported clinical conclusions.
  • Duplicate or contradictory notes were avoided.

Important

Billing notes are not a substitute for the medical record or for structured claim fields that must be transmitted to a payer.
